I was born and raised in Barcelona, Catalonia. My Dad worked all his life as a laborer on building sites. My Mom worked as a cleaner until my sister was born. They were practically allergic to city life. They came from a tiny village in Galicia where cows outnumber people ten to one.
Growing up they repeatedly told me to get off the computer. I'm glad I did. There's more to do than dodge tourists on La Rambla (though that's an Olympic sport in itself) Ah! And the food is definitely better than where you're from (unless you're from the north of Spain or from Italy, then it's a delicious draw).
